To Heal the World – Tikum Olam

DSC_0259.JPGTikkun Olam means repairing the world. Each session we go on a volunteer trip to help out at non profit projects around Baltimore. I was with the Chotrimot who helped out at a place called Living Classroom. They split into three groups; one was cleaning out trash from the Chesapeake Bay, the second was cleaning out classrooms at a local middle school, and the third one was organizing hygienic products goodie bags.

The Bonimot, Amelimot, and Bogrimot went to various farms in Baltimore and helped with garden work, like weeding and watering the plants. They all learned about food deserts and the need for fresh fruits and vegetables in cities like Baltimore. They learned that not everyone has the same access to food. Farms like these that are in the middle of city are very helpful.
