GEE: Gender Empowerment Evening

The other night, the chanichim participated in a special evening called GEE (Gender Empowerment Evening). The night started with a family style picnic on the softball field where they started talking about what gender is, what sexuality is, etc. After dinner, the chanichim were divided intro groups and participated in a round robin. In the sound robin; they explored what consent was, the importance of pronouns, gender stereotypes relating to movement, and other topics. Afterwards, the groups discussed each station. What was the station demonstrating? How did it make you feel? Are these issues prevalent at camp, what about at home? Afterwards, the youngest kids, the Tzimukim, went to bed. There other kids then went to a variety of chugim about gender in the media, LGBTQ rights, social expectations placed on gender, and other topics.
