Tikkun Olam (Fixing the World)

One of the core values of machaneh (camp) is social justice, meaning that tikkun olam (Fixing the world) is a very important time at camp. So this past Thursday, the amelim (going into 4th and 5th grade) and the chotrim (going into 6th and 7th grade) went to First fruits farm 15 minutes away and helped pick food for the Capital Area food bank.

The amelim and chotrim went to the farm and helped the volunteers pick lots of kale in order to help out those in need. The kids also talked about what it meant to help those in more need than themselves and the importance of doing tikkun olam. The kids really enjoyed the activity and felt fully rewarded afterwards.
