First Day of First Session 2011

It’s finally here! June 20, the first day of first session 2011, the day all of tzevet (counseling staff) has been waiting for.

The madatz (counselors in training) welcomed the buses and kids when they first arrived. The madatz are always a crazy group of kids who pump up the camp. They also have an affection for wearing outrageous outfits.

After the kids got off of the buses, everyone went to the MLC/Moadon L’chaver (the building of friends). The MLC could be called the heart of machaneh (camp). It’s a big communal space where a lot of activities are held and where all of machaneh can gather together.

Tzevet welcomed the kids by singing songs and cheers and then mingling. After that, kids were split up into their shikvah (age group). The age groups are as follows:

  • Amelim (going into 4th and 5th grades)
  • Chotrim (going into 6th and 7th grades)
  • Solelim (going into 8th grade)
  • Bonim (going into 9th grade)
  • Bogrim (going into 10th grade)
  • Madatz (going into 12th grade)

Campers are very excited for the day and session to begin. Keep checking back for more updates on your kids.
